Certificates are surrendered in the Registry of Certificates in TESSA for different reasons:
- Scheme Participants meeting their obligations under the Energy Savings Scheme and Peak Demand Reduction Scheme
- members of the public or organisations that wish to voluntarily surrender certificates – for example, to offset energy use.
You need a TESSA user account to surrender certificates. The Registering an account page explains how to set up an account.
Scheme Participants must surrender certificates to meet their obligations at the same time as they submit their Annual Statement. Voluntary surrenders can happen at any time.
The Scheme Administrator makes a decision whether to accept the surrender of certificates by Scheme Participants and others.
