About this method
The Removal of Old Appliances (RoOA) method provides a way to calculate electricity savings from the removal of old, or spare, refrigerators and freezers, providing an incentive to permanently remove old and inefficient appliances from residential and small business premises.
To create energy savings certificates the Accredited Certificate Provider must demonstrate that the fridge or freezer had a capacity of greater than 200L and that the refrigerant was disposed of in an appropriate manner.
A Default Savings Factor is based on the type of disposed fridge or freezer and the original use category:
- Destruction of a spare refrigerator or freezer in working order and regular use
- Destruction of a primary refrigerator or freezer and replacement with a high efficiency equivalent.
