Lighting applications are made on our online system, TESSA.
When applying on TESSA, you must submit several documents and categorise them appropriately. Evidentiary requirements are outlined in Section 2 and the appendices of the Applying for Product Acceptance Guide, and requirements vary depending on the method applied for and the application pathway used.
Please name all required documents appropriately when entering your data, and in accordance with our evidence requirements. Document categories in TESSA are consistent with requirements (e.g. select the document type as “Certificate of Suitability” in TESSA for your safety evidence).
You can apply for multiple products and calculation methods in an application. You do this when submitting your TESSA Case.
For more information on how to apply for lighting product acceptance see the video below.
LCPS at rated power
Lamp Circuit Power (LCP) must be determined at a product’s rated wattage, effective from 1 April 2021. Following consultation, we ceased accepting luminaires at lower wattage settings, see Notice 05/2020.
Products can still be used that incorporate dimming capability, multiple wattage settings, or drivers with adjustable power or current output, provided that the LCP is determined at the rated power of the product.
For more details on what this means for your product, please see our information paper.
Nominal Lamp Power (NLP) / Baseline LCP
For commercial lighting upgrades, ACPs need to provide evidence of the lamp type(s) and NLP of both the pre-existing lighting system (i.e., pre-implementation) and the upgraded lighting system (i.e.,post-implementation). ACPs may need to use an LCP value accepted by the Scheme Administrator in calculating the energy savings.
Applications for acceptance of baseline LCP should also be made via TESSA.
For Baseline LCP acceptance, raise a correspondence case in TESSA and submit your application with supporting documents attached. Evidentiary requirements are outlined in Section 4.2.2 of the Commercial Lighting - Evidence Manual.
